I can shoot groups dime size with the 25-06 and can reach 3400fps. I don't think you can do that with .270 and I have 2 of them but they aren't used anymore. Lots more freedom in reloading and with some work you can develop a point of aim with the 25-06 of about 350 yards With the fps the deer just seem to drop. Oh and as far as gun writers go, c boddington a much more well know writer than russel whatever , chose the 270 as the worlds most "perfect deer cartrige" not to mention it was jack oconner, who is considered god in the gun writer world, favorite too.
