im going to buying a new rifle soon and i need to know your oppinion on which gun to buy for deer hunting here in texas my two choises are 25-06 and 270. i allready know that i wil be using ballistic silvertips on the deer but i don't know which gun to use. i have experence shooting the 25-06 but not ne 270. this gun will only be used for deer, and it will be a remington model 700 xcr.

you cant go wrong with either. to fine calibers.

I would go with the 270. But if you can, I'd shoot both and take the one that you can shoot the best.

Strictly for deer I'd say 25-06, if there is a chance you would use it for larger game then the 270.

the 25-06 is a flat shooting gun but the .270 packs more of a punch and its a little bit harder
