Go to your local Army & Navy Surplus and pick up some Mickey Mouse boots. They are army issue cold weather gear.
You can get them online from Sportsmans guide.Somebody told they aren't the originals, but I know people that have them and they work for them.

Don't let the rating on the boots fool you.The black are rated at -20 and whites are rated at -70.These things keep your feet toasty.Check out what alot of people in Alaska and ice fisherman wear. You'll find it's these boots.

hey charlie p,

are they really called 'mickey mouse' boots? i don't want to go in there and ask for them and get a funny look.

They are called Mickey Mouse Boots!

I personally own a pair of Sorels. They work fine, but remember all of these boots are made to keep your feet warm while walking. Even if its rated to -50 below zero, if you are sitting still, your feet will eventually get cold.

Some good recommendations on boots, but I would add...get yourself a pair of 'boot blankets' to wear over your boots. They work. Also, the disposable chemical hand/toe warmers are a must in my boots on cold days.

I use Mickey's ...they are great..My friend MikeyMate uses those old green rubber pac boots you used to wear in grammer school. I know they dont work cause he is always walking to my blind evey 1/2 hour. He says he is bored but I think he is just using that as an excuse cause his feet are cold!

I’ve got to suggest electric socks!
I’ve got two nice pairs of Rock boots (don’t know exactly what model)
The warmest ones keep my feet warm sitting all day,in the coldest weather.
But are miserably hot when exerting any energy, like walking, climbing, or dragging a deer.
I Find I’m a lot more comfortable in the lighter pair and plugging the battery on the electric socks while I’m sitting in the stand.

I would have to go with Mickey's. I've used them in the Northern Michigan UP for 10 years and been in some pretty nippy temps a think they work great - keep in mind they are a heavy boot for limited walking.

I like Duke's suggestions regarding proper layering for sweat control on your feet. If you don't control that then it doesn't matter how many grams of thinsulate you have in there....:)

Personally, I am a Cabelas man...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. I usually head over to their bargain cave and check what is on sale...If you are looking for extreme cold weather boots then don't get anything under 1000 grams of Thinsulate.....waterproof ofcourse....preferably Goretex or something similar.

Bud, I can take care of you on this. I got sick of having cold feet and bought a pair of boots made by Baffin 5 years ago. The boots were fantastic. I could sit in below freezing temps all day long without moving and my feet stayed warm. Not only that, but when the rubber cracked this year I sent them back to Baffin and they replaced them. They make a great boot and they are a great company. The model is the Baffin Trapper boot. Their Web site is http://www.baffin.com

For the last couple of years I've had Rocky Bearclaws with 800 gr.of Thinsulate. While moving around they are great. After sitting for awhile my feet start getting chilled. I'm going to check in to these boot blankets.I do have a question for Duke 13. Where can these polypropylene socks be bought? Thanks Ruger Redhawk

I wore the mickey mouse boots once when i was in military i was in Germany it was freezing out side and i was standing outside for 6 hours my feet never got cold but the sargents told me the cause feet fongus because they make your feet sweat but i would only wear them for hunting not all the time so you would not have that problem. Also i can get them for about twenty bucks from a used military seller. i also owned a pair of sorrels they cost me about 80 dollars but they lasted me about five years only problem is feet would get cold after about 4 hours of sitting and tread on bottom wore off fast only two i can reccommend.
