I hunt blacktail every year. That' s what we have here. I think they' re harder to hunt than whitetails. They don' t herd up in large numbers, are kinda elusive, and are almost nocturnal, especially during hunting season. I' ve always had the best luck when it' s raining. They tend to move out of the trees and run around.

I would have to agree with hntngirl. A really big blacktail buck is one of the most elusive trophies North America has to offer. Very secretive creatures inhabiting incredibly dense, wet forests where if you don' t know how to use a map and compass, you can and will get lost, even 20 yards from the road you just walked in from.
If you want a good one, plan on hunting long and hard in some of the most inhospitable places and weather you can imagine.
