I thought he was asking for opinions on how high up the ridge you might sit. Not how far up a tree.

I use a TreeLoungeclimber and usually 20 to 30ft or as high as I can on a ridge!

I misunderstood the question. It would depend on the circumstances.Wind direction,sun direction, where the deer normally travel,ect.I wouldn't want to be on the top and the sun skyline me.

no less than 35-40 feet if possible...i like to get pay up there so the wind is less of a factor in scent control and no deer is going to ever see u at 35 feet high...although i have heard of people hanging their stands no more than 10 feet!!! not quite sure why on earth you would do that but w/e i guess
