would a .7mm rem magnum take down a german sheperd size coyote with a 185 grain size ballistic tip bullet?

Easily, as long as you put the bullet in a kill part of the coyote, but then again a .22 will kill one if you put the bullet in the right place.

ye it would do the trick no doubt ,even if the coyote is prehistoric and weighs 500+lbs
185 grains with 7mm rem mag ballistics is enough drop a grizzly is shot correctly

Oh yes, like timbercruiser said a 22 rifle will kill then if hit in the right place.i like to use a .223 cal. for coyote for long range shots.

Please don't take this wrong but: Are you serious? Honestly, how does one go to purchase a rifle and not know what you would use it for? Is it just that someone is going to give you the gun?

Overkill for a coyote, but if your not keeping hides, go for it.

Way overkill...most people use a .223 or similar size caliber for coyotes... unless youre just trying to make a mess!
