RE: 20 Guage Slug For Deer Hunting
Hey guys, I got to Florida this morning and I brought my laptop. I planned to go right now because of the rut down there, there is a 12 pointer on my property and I hope he slips up for me. I will be headed out on Monday.

Yes, I have but I only shot them at 15 yards at a piece of plywood. It is legal to bait in Florida and I will be setting out corn covered with molasses so shots will only be 15-20 yards.

Don't put a scope on your gun if most of your shots will be under 50 yards. You won't be able to see where on the deer you're aiming. IMHO, open sights are the best for all types of shotgun hunting.
If you know your gun, you can accurately take deer out to 100 yards with open sights.
As far as a slug for a 20 ga, I hunted in Iowa using Remington Buckhammer slugs. I dropped a 200lb buck in his tracks with 1 shot, and by dropped, I mean the slug knocked him over.
It will more than handle Florida deer. Also, it's a heavy enough slug that it will bust through light brush without severely diverting course.
