Last years shed?
 

I was walking my buddies creek and passed on a crossing on a deer trail.
I found this 3 pt. shed on it.

The deer here don't lose their antlers until sometime around March.

We believe that it is from last year. The only thing is there is not any markings from squirrels nawing on it so we're not sure. Does anybody have an answer for this?

Looks like this years shed to me. I haven't found a shed that dark before. The sun always bleaches them out in a hurry. I usually go shed hunting when it warms up in April and they still look lighter colored than that one. Year old sheds are nearly white when I find them. Usually the antler is as white as the base where it detaches from the head of the dear. I could be wrong though. I'm no super genius , or r I.

Could be some sort of hormone imbalance. There was a guy near Troy a few years ago that shot an 8 point and when he grabbed the antlers to pull him out of the woods both of them popped off in his hand.

This years shed, there is no discoloration, and no chew marks on it...

Most likely this year's shed. I have found 5 already so it is possible.

Well thats good...

Now I'll have to go looking for his other side now. The creek is where I find most of them. I think its because some places where they cross is a pretty good drop and I think it jars them loose.

it looks like this years shed. theres no cracking or chew marks so its this years

looks like this years. it looks though that its been down for a while though. look at the base. no wax and its brownish.
