Where did you shoot your deer This year?
 

This year I killed my 8 point with a shot to the jugular with my .243 with Remington corelokt 100 grain bullets, shot was 80 yards away.

I was all shaky it was a cold morning I was not trying to take a head shot. I did no have such a good rest to shoot on, and it was cold as hell.

i shot mine high in the shoulder and exited through the liver it went right down

The plants were high where i shot mine and I saw it drop but once I got 40 yards from it I thought it was gone but surely enough it dropped right there it was just in a low spot.

I hit mine in the femoral artery he went 70 yards and dumped right in a pond.

I shot my buck 86 yds away ,it was a 9 point and i shot it in the heart with a 270 130 grain core lockt bullet the deer died in its tracks.

i got my 8 in the heart 23 yards with bow. 2 does shot with 270wsm dropped in the tracks heart shot..slow year for us here.

Perfect double lung shot from 180 yards.

I shot my 10 point buck at 40 yards with a 20 gauge shotgun sabot. In one side of the chest, through the heart and out the other side. The deer did a 180degree spin and ran as far as he could (about 30 yards) before piling up.

Shot 5 of them high shoulder.........tipped over on the spot.
2 through the lungs (one with the bow) and they ran 100 yards.

With the bow i got a 7-point in the lungs at 12ydsand shotgun in the heart at 30yds. The heart was split into two pieces and the deerran about10yrds.:D

12 gaugeslug just behind his left leg (elbow?), about 1/3 to1/2 way up.Exited low on the front edge of the right shoulder.25 yds. He ran 15 yards and face planted.

I took three this year: Deer 1 was doe with my compound bow at about 6 yards, made a poor shot that I'm not proud of...got in too much of a hurry and took the shot while she was quartering towards me. Luckily for me the arrow came in high just below the spine and angled down out her belly. Only went about 30 yards before tipping over. Deer 2 was a spike, also with a bow, and also from only about 6 yards and this time I'm proud to say i made a perfect shot. He was slightly quartering away and i put it behind his shoulder and angled it out in front of his far shoulder. Deer 3 was an 8 point on opening day of rifle season. He was broadside at about 60-70 yards walking across this overgrown field i was watching, hit him slightly farther back then I would have liked but took out the back of his lungs and liver.

The buck i shot this year was 28 yards when i shot him and for some reason i thought he was 20 yards and i shot him LOW. To this day i have no idea why i thought he was 20 yards away. But anyway i shot him low and nicked one lung gave him plenty of time and finally found him 6 hours later.

well the one i killed with muzzleloader i got him in the heart..but the other 8 were shot all over cause our club runs dogs

First deer of 2008 a spike. Shot in the red circle. Bullet traveled through the body. Bullet found when field dressed.

Bullet from the spike. 300 gr Barnes Expander MZ fired from my muzzleloader.

Shot 4 deer all behind the front shoulder through the ribs. All lung shots with no wasted meat. One was at 40 yards and the balance were 100-110 yardsall from 20 ft treestands...best yearof hunting in 25 years.

Deer #2 160# doe through the neck, dead right there.......same bullet MZ combination.

2 does, both bowkills. One double lung, went 35 yards and dropped, the other I hit a little far back and got 1 lung, so I backed out and gave her over night to expire.

The shot looks far back, but she was quartering away (I let her walk past my stand) and the arrow head got right into the boiler room, pretty much exactly what I tried to do, except for poor penetration.

Same setup as .243heartshot. Shot one doe in heavy brush through shoulder and out behind the opposite shoulder, which ran about 30 yards. Shot other doe back in mid body,liver, big entry hole but no exit hole. I must have hit a branch, even though she seemed to be in the open. She ran about 20 yards.

Seriously... 125-130 yards, quartering toward me, clipped the back of the right shoulder, no exit... DRT. Shot her with my .30-06 with a Remington 150gr Cor-Lok.

Looks like everyone who responded didn't take the head shot, good to see we have a lot of ethical hunters on this post!

Deer one:Was a doe taken at 90 yards, double lunged with my .270, a little low but droppped within sight.

Deer two: Was an 8 pointer, 12 Ga slug hit its mark right behind the shoulder. Went about 40 yards.

I shot this guy through both lungs and the heart at 120 yards with a 130 gr. GameKing. He ran 100 yards and didn't bleed a drop it took an hour to find him and when I cleaned him his lungs were pudding and his heart was destroyed which is why he didn't bleed.


Shot this girl at 60 yards with the same bullet I hit her in the point of the shoulder and it exited behind the opposite shoulder. She got that "oh crap" look did a half turn slowly and dropped dead.

This is one of my students that I took this year. Its his first deer, he was using my 30-30 aimed for the shoulder but hit it in the throat at 25 yard slaching the jugular, no entrance no exit.

Buck, 100 yards, quartering slightly towards me. Shot through left shoulder, lungs and heart with 7mm Rem Mag using Remington's Managed Recoil 140 Gr. PSP Core-Lokt. He turned and took a few steps back toward where he'd come from, and then stood there with his back arched like an angry housecat. Shot him again, this time through the right shoulder, lungs, and heart. He went about 10 yards after that...

I shot 2 bucks last season. The first one was standing broadside @ about 125-150 yds. and I shot him in the heart. The second one was running, quartering away, and I hit him high in the neck and he dropped right there. I'm guessing he was about 60 yds away when I shot him.

My first deer was a doe that i shot a lil far back with my bow. It was my fault. I should have cleared the branches a lil better. I ended up shootin her and severing her artery by her spinal cord. She ran over 300 yrds.
My second deer was a buck which I shot with my bow as well. I hit him a lil far back too. I nicked both lungs and destroyed the liver and stomach[:'(]. Oh well he was deffinately worth the cleaning job.:DHe ran about 60 yrds..

mine stood up out of its bed head on and took the 06 180 RN in the throat.
