Montana Deer tag question?

Last year 4 of my buddies and I applied for gen. deer tags and did not draw. We all put in for a preference point so we all will have 1 point this year. We will apply as a party. I am just wondering if anyone could tell me what our chances of drawing tags would be. I have been on Montanas web site but the draw odds are only for specific units that you can apply for after you draw a gen. tag. There is nothing telling me what the odds are for getting the gen. tag.

RE: Montana Deer tag question?

I went to Montana in '04 and to get drawn for a combo tag (elk/deer) the odds were like 75 percent. To get drawn for just a deer tag was much lower, I wanna say about 30 percent. We applied for combo tags to boost our odds, but the tag is like $750 (or at least it was) compared to a couple hundred for just the deer tag. Those are just ball park numbers though and it was five years ago so i don't know how much of that still holds true. Good luck getting drawn though, its amazing out there
