tx hunt

My dads cousin has 1000 acres near Sweetwater TX. He told my wife and me to come on down and hunt. I was wondering what the terrain was like and the deer population in that general area? What is the average size of bucks in that area? Any information would be helpful.
Thanks.

Sweetwater is just North of Brady and northwest of Brownwood. The terrain is dry, cactus, rocky, brushy country.
There are a lot of deer in that area, and some big horns, average body weight deer for the hill country.

I grew up in Brownwood.

Typically late Nov to early Dec. It varys a little every year but that would be your best time to come down

I would say peak rut is pretty much the week of Thanksgiving. Your looking at mature bucks dressing out 125-140lbs on average. There are a good number of deer in the area. Don't be suprised to see 140+ class deer. (That number would not be an average). I would think you would be able to walk or use an atv to get just about anywhere you needed to go out there. watch out for rattlesnakes and good luck
