I like my Summit Viper SS. It's light weight, easy to climb, and comfortable for the all-day hunts.

Me too....Prolly will never buy another unless it's made by summit. I have used mine for 3 seasons and all i have replaced is the tree straps just from normal wear and tear and they only cost me 50.00. The best made in my opinion!

I actually have both Summit and API. They are both verynice stands. I honestly
cannot tell you which one iI likemore. We hunt on our own land and I keep them out in the woods
throughout the fall, and just take the seat off when I'm done hunting for the day. I would highly
reccommend either Summit or API. Can't go wrong.

I will probably buy a treewalker climber before next fall. Big platform, lightweight, comfortable mesh seat, what more could you want? Check em out -http://www.treewalkertreestands.com/

I own the summit backpacker. I love it for the fact that it folds flat and is very comfortable. I have had many all day sits with ease. Well worth the money.

I bought the Summit Open Shot a few years back and definitely will buy another.
It's smaller than most, so take that into consideration...

I have both as well and I couldn't agree more. I like both as well.

Cudos to the Summits. I just bought a Viper. I already own a Goliath. I got one heck of a closeout deal at Gander Mountain on the Viper and couldn't resist. I don't know why I need two climbers.

I believe I am going to prefer the Viper because it is a few pounds lighter than the Goliath plus you climb by sitting on the bar not a strap.

Go with the Viper.

Add me to the list of Summit Viper users. I had never used a climber until I got one this last fall, and the Summit was pretty easy to use once I figured out what I was doing. I won't say that it is better than the all the others because I have not used any of them, but I will say that I love my Summit so far.

I have used several different climbers. IMO if your stick with a summit or api you want be sorry.

I've used an ol man for many years now. When I eventually need another stand it will be one of these three
Ol man
Timbertall
Treewalker

Light & cheap are 2 things that don't go together when talking treestands.

Summit climbers all the way, i have been using them for at least 8years. Just got a new one this year.

If your looking for cheap, try ebay or craigslist, might find one slightly used for cheap. Also, stands should be going on sale now, its the best time to buy.

RE: Favorite Climing Stand

I am a big fman and a big fan of the Ol' Man (Grand) climbers. I have used these for years. I have also used a Summit ... forgot the "model". It is an aluminum grame. wrap around front, padded sling seat and rated for 300#. It belongs to my cousin. It is a great clinber. Quiet, stout , plenty of room and comfortable. If iIwere buying now, it would be a toss up between these two.

As for a "cheap" ,light weight climber ... I am guessing the least expensive is the River's Edge at about $125.I saw one at Wal-Mart and bought it for a "spare". It is not light weight @ aobut 19#. It is not in the class of the Summit or Ol' Man. The frame design makes ittougher to shimmy up the tree than either the Summit I used or my Ol' Man stands.

I have 2 - API lock-ons. If API'sclimber is anything like these stands, then I'd not hesitate to look hard at an API climber. Just not familiar with the API climber at all.
