WhiletheVanguardis one VERY nice rifle I purchased the Remington 700 2 days ago.The ONLY reason I bought the Remmy was because of the wieght difference.It's only suppose to a 1/4lb difference but I believe it's more.I bought it in .243 so recoil it's even a issue.That Vanguard is one VERY nice gun for the money!!!

I have one in .270 and have killed several deer with it and think it is a great gun for the value. The vanguard, by Weatherby was mentioned in an issue of F&S in an article about accuracy and stacked up well, but i can't remember what caliber they used though.

I'm planning on buying the 300 Mag in a few months maybe. I have a friend that has an older one. His really weighs a lot with the bull barrel he has on it.
