Is this a good idea?
 

Hey all, Im new to hunting, looking to get ready for next season. I have a good idea on where Ill be hunting, would it be wise to scout the area out now, or is there a risk of ruining the area? Should I go in with some scent control on as well?

I would go into the woods as early as you can. The deer may not be there next season but at least it will give you an idea of where you can set-up when you hunt it. It may also clue you into any natural food/water sources in that area. Personally, I would get all done up just like I would if I were going hunting. Scent control and the whole 9 yards. No sense in letting them know you've been there if you don't have to.

I thought about getting all geared up with some binos and a map as opposed to my xbow....

Uhh yeah. I wouldn't bring a weapon unless you're actually going to hunt.
