You don't know if it hurts you or not. Its the big boy that smelled you and skirted you that you need to worry about.

I used to dip, and smarten up after 20 years of doing it. And I can say without a doubt, I see more mature bucks now than I did when I diped.

I'm guessing you might of learned a few more things also on how to hunt mature bucks. Whether It's related to not chewing anymore on stand, one will never know.

Excellent point. I used to hunt land that looked good and I had good shots. Now, my rule is only hunt recent sign. I might not have too many shots. It might be so thick, you can't drive a bull dozer thru it. It might be on a field edge.

I learned a bunch about animals smell and senses moose hunting. Moose are amazing creatures. I would be watching a cow and calf 200 yards away for 30 min completely camoflagued. And that wind would change thier way, and automatically looked right at us. I can't imagine a deer would have too much less of a sniffer.
