breaking the ice?

i found a new deer trail yesterday and its right next to my creek. i think the deer would drink out of it if they could. i wondered if it would be a good idea to go out early when hunting and break the ice? would this attract deer?

I'm not sure I understand. Why are you wanting to break the ice?

how close is the nearest water source currently ? Do they have good cover to mill around and be somewhat off guard ?

( ITS SURELY NOT GONNA HURT ANYTHING ! )

Ever notice we overthink the ---- out of some stuff !

:D yeah i realized that. well the only water source is my creek. it was empty until a few days ago when we got all that rain. the pool is probably only as big a car but its deep and should last long.

If the deer are using it they would keep one area of it almost ice free.. So why would you want to break the ice for them? It would certainly scare them away for a while. The sound from breaking the ice would carry quite aways..
