Climbing Treestand Recommendations?

I've pretty well got my heart set on a Summit Viper SS but I'm open to all suggestions. What do you have and do you like it?

I love my Summit Viper. It's the last one I'll buy for a very long time.

I have only ever used two kind. I own an API Grand Slam U-Lite, I like the way it sets up, climbs, and it is very comfortable. I am kinda partial to this one because I have been using it for many years, the only bad thing about it NOW is either the treestand shrunk orI got fatter:eek:

Now with the Summit Viper I used ONCE. It was also very comfortable once I got up the tree. It is easy to setup after the first time. I had trouble climbing with it though, the cables wanted to keep wrapping around the bars on the treestand??? I think I was taking too short of strides or something??? It has plenty of room and I wouldnt hesitate buying one over any other climber if I had the option! I was actually looking into the Summit 180 Max, I like the facing tree option!!

The only safety tip I have for ya is with whatever you choose tie the top and bottom part together once you attach it to the tree!!! If for some reason the bottom would kick out you dont want it sliding down the tree!! Gd Luck!

I'm looking hard at treewalker stands for next year. I have heard alot of good things about them, and really like what I see.I'm hoping to be able to actually see one and maybe try it out before I purchase.

I would say Summit is the most popular, followed probably by Lone Wolf...both nice stands for sure.

Summit Stands rea the best I have found and they have good price to boot. Quiet, light, easy to use, can't go wrong

WVHUNTER~~~

I also was looking into getting a new climber this year and was VERY VERY impressed with the Treewalkers so I emailed them with a few questions I had regarding there stands!! I waited and waited and waited and eventually emailed again and waited and waited, etc.... they finally got back to me AFTER A COUPLE(2-3?) WEEKS, by then I decided not to get a stand this year, but it definantely showed what kinda service I would get from these guys!!

Its kinda sad when you think about it though, I know its a small company but lets get real how many emails can they possibly get in a day?? If they want to ever make anything from themselves they need to get on the ball!!! I hope to hear better stories in the future!!

I will give it this much, when they did finally get back with me they did answer most of my questions!! Just a little warning WVHunter, I am not saying this is always the case but for me it was?? The only other bad thing I have heard is the weight of there treestand is a little mis advertised, they are a couple pounds heavier. I first saw them at the Harrisburg Pa Outdoor Show and thats where they caught my eye!! Gd Luck man, if you do buy one keep us updated!!!

Thanks WestMD

I understand what you are saying, however I will give them the benefit of the doubt also. I understand what small business is like and how sometimes things are very tough to manage. 2 of the companies I currently work with have had their share of issues in the initial years getting rolling as well, but both are great companies. I have also heard about the weight issue, but again...I've heard both sides of that issue too. I'm gonna hit the Harrisburg show this year and hopefully they will be there so I can check them out! I will keep you posted if I do decide to get one. Thanks!

Been using a tree lounge for years. Great stand real comfortable. But I hear good things about the Summit too.

This is the first year using a climber (Summit Viper SS) and I really liked it a lot. It was easy to use and was pretty quiet. And I do agree with WesternHD to make sure totether the top and bottom parts together...not a situation you want to be in, in the even the bottom falls down the tree...trust me
