Look into getting you a set of Elevators. Those things are awesome.

I would also recommend the elevators. Last summer, my brother and built one of these. I dont have any plans, just some pics. We kind of just went by the seat of our pants.

I have two pics, however cannot figure out how upload those, says file is too big.

How big is your stand?
Does being enclosed make it seem smaller than it is?

Nice, but the roof wouldn't hold up under the wind that we get through out the off season.

jrfrmn,

Hey the stand is about 16 feet up in the air and is about six by six. It is fairly roomy in there. We can fit three good size guys but mostly it is my brother and I. We do have a propane heater in there for those cold, cold days. The stand did come in nice opening day of shotgun. Here in central NY it rained all day. I sat in a regular tree stand until 9am and then changed clothes and went up there and sat all day out of the rain.

There is also plexiglass windows on all four sides and insulation in the walls.

Being enclosed doesnt make it small, plenty of room for two to move around or be comfortable and the deer dont mind it. Have them walking right by it. We did get it up long before the season. The only negative thing about it is that its not the best stand to bow hunt from, however I prefer my other tree stands for that.

Also, i have been up there in some really nasty wind and snow storms this year and it has been great. We had a really big wind storm during the early fall and it is still standing. Knock on wood. We also have it anchored into concrete at the bottom.

Want to talk about being a small world. The picture posted by Remmingtonguy1191 is a picture a my stand. I don't think I have ever met that guy before. (For the record, the stand is visible from the property line, so I do not want to imply that RemingtonGuy was trespassing in anyway.)

When I first saw the picture I knew it looked to familiar for some reason, but there is no doubt about it. The green sign in the lower right-hand corner is to warnpeoplenot to walk in front of the scouting camera.

Ihope this wasn't my 15 minutes of fame.

Mystery solved, I knowRemingtonGuy1991. He is one of my friends and we have hunted the same property for years. I didn't know he was a member. That's pretty funny.

I suggest 20' or higher, because your scent will be in the second air current at 20' plus. At 12' your scent goes to the ground.

Ours is 16 feet high I believe and I think that was a good height. We had numerous occasions where deer would walk right by with us in it. I also suggest getting it built way before next season starts.

We also have a gas heater however I wonder if the deer can smell it sometimes. I only use it in extreme cold weather or if I am sitting all day.

Rabid,

Hello from Central NY! What would you say your total cost was for the blind. I am thinking of doing one like that this spring so I can hunt with the kids easier.

First need to clear some land for a food plot.....

Go to the national wild turkey web site and go to get in the game. There is a set of plans in there for a nice box blind. I printed them off the other day to build on one of my food plot

Saw this one on outdoor channel last week:

http://www.nwtf.org/tv_magazines/images/GITG_box_blind.pdf

I use elevators and find that a 5' x 5' platform works best for me.

Hey nice to meet another fellow NY'er. Where abouts in NY? I am in Auburn, NY. I would say the total cost for the stand was about a thousand dollars, however could probably be cheaper. I think the stand would be a good setup for kids. Good luck with it this spring. I want to do some food plots this spring also.

just an idea to help save some money but try talking to the local light company i know around here we can purchase the old light poles they replace that r anywhere between 15 and 30 feet long for $10.00 each. they work real good to use for blinds just dig a hole and set them and start building. if u just ask around u might beable to find someone wanting an old building torn down and u r all set. i also will place a few in the timber for climbing stands if there is no good trees around for any kind of stands where i want them.
