How do deer know there kin? Do you shoot nub bucks?

How do they know their kin? Scent, I 'm sure. Most does run in family groups of multiple generations. It's interesting to watch as another family group comes into a food plot when a different one is already there. They will stare at each as if one has crashed a party. They know their relatives and who isn’t.
I've also seen button bucks timidly come up to an older female in such a way that clearly the young male is approaching its mom sometime after she has run him off. They know each other and likely will for some period of time.
Deer are very social and I think are very familiar with the other deer that live in their area.
Nature does have its way of preventing inbreeding, and the mom's effort to run off her yearling males is part of that, not to mention the older buck's wide roaming range during rut.
As for intentionally shooting your baby bucks, I personally think that's ridiculous when you consider that most places need doe populations reduced.
