357 158g bullet for deer hunting?
|
RE: 357
yes, you could but use a 180 grain bullet and watch your distance
|
RE: 357
how far can you shoot
|
RE: 357
I myself would keep it to 50 yards or less
|
RE: 357
use a decent 180 grain bullet like a Federal cast core, Hornady XTP or Buffalo Bore.
Heres a few links for these... Ive also heard good things about Winchester Partition Gold 180g - but every time Ive tried to order em they arent in stock. so I dont know if they make em anymore http://shop.reedsammo.com/product.sc?categoryId=39&productId=736 https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=00129P357J http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=946487 |
RE: 357
my grandpa uses one during the gun season. he carries it in a hip-holster in case he has to finish a deer off or if its to close. all the deer hes taking with it have been 25 yards or less. it knocks deer over if you hit them

I use 158gr JSP and have taken 3 whitetails with it. It works fine but none of mine have passed thru the deer. Bullet ends up on the far side hide. Longest shot was about 60yds. All 3 ran about 40yds. This was with a Ruger Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel. |

This one will get it done if you do your part http://www.buffalobore.com/ammunition/default.htm#357
Compare it to the others, nothing else is even close. |
