RE: .243 vs 7mm08
ORIGINAL: claydee I've shot deer with both ( mostly 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 year old does ) either gun leaves just as dead, BUT the 7mm-08 leaves a BLOOD trail. The .243 seems to put a pin hole in em. I like the .243 for yotes, but I LOVE my 7mm-08 for trophy does! Some say that the 7MM-08 is the about as close to perfect of a deer cartridge that you could get! I senen the 7MM-08's results, and it would be hard to argue that its not close to perfect! But, the .243 will take any whitetail a 7MM-08 will take. Either will do a good job, if you do yours! I have shot a lot of Deer In my 61 yrs. with my Parker Hale .243. I have only had one run, about 40 yds. All the rest fell over dead, and not a step. I shot most just behind the shoulder to keep from messing up the meat. This is a great round for everything I hunt, from Hogs to Deer.
