Default Want to buy new rifle

I hunt in upstate NY.I currently shoot a Marlin 336c in .35Rem.I'm looking to get a new rifle.I was thinking about the 308 Marlin or a Remington 700 in 7mm-08.I haven't hunted in about 10 years & want to get back into it next season.I know there's alot of new stuff out,any input or reccomendation would be appreciated.Thanks.

I use a Remington 742 30.06, and all I can say is WOW. It has good accuracy and low recoil.

SKS it's not that bad really, low recoil and max range is about 125yrds. in fact i shot a 7pointer opening day (last wednesday) and took him straight down. happy hunting!

I love my Remington Model seven as well as my Browning Micro medalian both in .308 But I will tell you what!!!!

If you want an american made rifle from a company that has come a very long way take a peak at the Savages. The accutrigger is pretty sweet and the prices are pretty good. I'm thinking on picking one up in .243 for a yote/deer gun for my daughter.

A 7mm-08 would be a great choice.

I had the Remington Sportsman 78 in 30.06 & I sold the gun a few years back, now I regret it! But I'm also looking for something with less recoil than the .06.Something with about the same recoil as the .35rem

Can't go wrong with a Remington 700 IMHO. I love my .30-06 and it's easy to find a variety of ammo for it.

I would go w/ a nice lightweight bolt gun. My preference is savage or remington. Ill also second the 7-08 & 308win

I would also think twice about the 308marlin , It doesnt seem to be taking off, and will probably go by way of the 307win and the 6mm rem. and finding ammo may be tough.
