Feilds and woods for me. I hunt woods in the morning trying to catch deer heading to bed. Then I go to the feild in the evening because most deer feed in the afternoons. Just my .02

If you want to see bucks hunt in the thicket in the woods. But for does hunt the field during early morning and late afternoon. but during the rut all bets are off.

it honestly depends what is available to you, i know where i hunt, i am just srounded by woods, with very very few fields. I've noticed deep will hang back in the woods, untill dark falls, then they emerge into the field, espically after pa rifle season

For me it's woods... NH hunting does not have very many farms / fields in my section.
Set up in the transition between two or three types of cover.
Ex: 50-100-200 yards from the edge of field, that dips down towards lowland (swampier area), maybe some pines, etc.
These are natural funnels and I find that the bucks hang back until dark.

I would hunt fields, but every time i would glass the fields just before dark I wouldn't see any deer out there. These are corn fields I'm talking about .Just don't understand why there not out there.

i gun hunt in both, but i bow hunt in more open areas of "transition" woods leading into fields, i have all kinds of stands hidden on my 43 that i own, and its one heck of a setup, if u have any areas where grassy areas hit thick timber look for heavily used trails my friend
