Default 2008 December 6th Doe!

Well, rifle season is over in most of the counties that me and my dad have permission to hunt on. BUT, we did some searching last night and finally found someone willing to let us hunt on some land where rifle is still in.
Weather, 10-13 degrees. Very uncommon for the weather to be this cold in rifle season. I was sitting next to a abandoned cabin overlooking a .5 acre feild. At 6:30, the neighbors realeased their hunting dogs. Now my only hope is that they push something my way.
6:45, I hear trampling coming off of the ridge to my left. I know its deer so I get the trusty .243 up and ready. Three deer walk right in front of me sitting in my lawn chair. There are 2 fawns and a momma, I shoot the momma.
I didn't really know what had happened because it all happened so fast. After about 20 minutes, I walked up to her (I saw her drop), and realized that she was the oldest and fattest deer I have ever seen.

She weighs over 140lbs. (A huge doe for this part of the state). And my guess is that she is 6-7 years old. My first big doe. Only the second one I've ever shot.

I love hunting with my dad. I could not imagine going without him.

Who would I share my stories with? Who would help me track my deer? Who would help me drag/gut the deer? I can't imagine hunting without him.

We were close to it. We got lucky and found a place where we could hunt. This is the first deer that we have kept for meat. (We only keep does and small bucks, more tender meat.)
