Ill give a thumbs up for the Ruger M77 MarkII - I have one in .270 caltopped with a Leupold VX-1 - its my main scoped deer hunting firearm. Its dead nuts!

My second choice would be a Remington 700 BDL. I have one in a 7 mag topped with a Nikon BuckMaster - is also dead friggin nuts! The 700 BDL is a great gun and does come in .270

Most accurate guns Ive owned have been remy 700s and savage. Most us military sniper rifles ,and custom gunmakers use 700 actions. Ive owned several of each, among other brands. My current hunting rifle is a 700 mt rifle in 7mm-08 , good accuracy & very light , and a joy to carry. I would love to own a Sako someday.

any quality built rifle (winchester, browning, remington, ruger, weatherby) will be closein craftmanship and accuracy..if you don't mind a single shot, the t/c would be a great choice because of the interchangeable barrels...optics should be your major concern in a $1000 rifle....stay in the high end of leupold, burris, or swarovski...the saying is "the scope should cost as much as the rifle"..

had a older Sako...traded it off. Rem 700 are good rifles.....military contracts sometimes are awarded not by the accuracy of their guns but by Politics. They have a standard MOA for the rifleshootoff......at different ranges. with modifications the Rem 700is very accurate but the best thing its cheap compared to competion abroad.

Either get yourself a BROWNING A-Bolt or X-Bolt. Can never go wrong with browning!

Weatherby makes a ultralightweight in .270 Win, it has a synthetic stock, with a black stainless barrel, fluted, best of both worlds....black and stainless, that's one idea.
