thanks for the replies.
I have heard about the Cooper political issues...that is a shame...they are well known around here for their accuracy.
I haven't heard about the Kimber accuracy issues?
I do like synthetic stocks, but i don't like shiny stainless steel barrels.
I am willing to invest $1000 - $1200 on a quality gun (not including scope).
thanks again for the recommendations.

I'm torn because I really liked my Ruger M77 MKII .270 and I think most people would like like it but I really like my CZ-550 (even though it is a little heavier than my Ruger) and I would also recommend that. The CZ's single-set trigger is awesome!

Sako has their new model with a 1moa 5 shot guarantee. Can't beat that. My dad just bought a Kimber Super America. Nice gun to be sure, best trigger I've ever used (and I have a timney on my ruger). Accuracy as mentioned isn't outstanding, average of 2" groupsbut we have only shot with three different factory loads, so there are plenty of combinations to tighten that up.

I have some money saved up and I am willing to invest some money in order to get a quality gun.
Any recommendations?
I have some recommendations, but you need to be more specific on a dollar amount that you are willing to spend. I would personally stay away from Cooper for political reasons and Kimber for accuracy problems, but there are some really good gun companies out there if you are willing to drop a little extra coin.
I am interested in your recommendations. I did not know Kimber has accuracy problems. I thought they were supposed to be a well made, extremely accurate gun. What is the nature of the accuracy problems? I have a little extra coin.

With my Kimber 84M - I could shoot 12 oz bottles of water at 300 yards with consistency.
