as a person who for the past ten years worked in the outdoor industry (mostly TV) these shows are produced with a few items in mind. entertain, inform as to the latest products and new ways to enjoy the outdoors, and to promote areas and or outfitters. that is the main goals of these shows. would you want to depend on any outdoor tv host for your next hunting outing, NO!! they won't help you get out of the woods if you got lost, they would however, be able to sell you the gear to get yourself out.

don't take these shows to heart, it is pure viewing enjoyment.

I think you hit it on the head. These shows are striving to sell a product to a consumer group. Seasoned hunters are aware that the conditions of many of these "hunts" are not what they will see opening day at their local hunting spot. Those same hunters know that many of these gadgets being advertised are more luxury than necessity. Just my opinion.

They also seem to have endless commercials and really are endless commercials in themselves. Is an Encore rifle the only rifle that anyone hunts with any more? I have kind of enjoyed Roger raglin lately but his last show was so full of shameless promotions I turned it off.
I am not a paid schill for TC, butthe reason why you see so many of them carrying Encores might have to do with the Encore being a extremely high quality gun. Sure it is a single shot, but that is all I need. My Encore has yet to let me down (which I can't say about my Winchester or Remington guns) and is why I always recommend Encores to anyone looking for what I consider an impecable hunting package (if they have the money).
Are you serious? Sorry, but "the reason why you see so many of them carrying Encores" is because TC is a sponsor of their show. If Remington was their sponsor, they'd be carrying Remingtons. If Winchester was their sponsor, they'd be carrying Winchesters. TC pays these guys to go on hunting adventures and gives them free guns...

I just record a bunch of them on the DVR and when I watch them I fast forward to the shot and just ignore everything else.

Of course it's not real world! If it was NO ONE would watch them.

I have been consulted and questioned about being in one up here. I haven't said I would yet but might be concidering it just for the enjoyment of it.. So if you see one up this way hit the screens do not watch as it will be boring to you. Some guy just setting in a tree stand waiting for a deer to walk by. Most likely reading a book while waiting behind the scenes..LOL This would be on a real hunt and not just hunting in a fenced in area waiting..

I have to get off the topic for a minute and go back to this Encore thing. Sure they are great rifle but won't be up there with the model 700 and 70 for another 40 years or so. Then you can say it is a good rifle as long as it has stood the test of time. Thompson Center has done a great job of promoting the rifle and has shelled out alot of money. Just look at Jim Shockey who nows uses the Encore. Its all about money. I would bet that most if not all of his grand slam animals were shot with his Knight. Ever notice when you see a Encore on TV it has a Nikon scope on it. Money. Its a good scope but we all know there are better. The average guy sees the TV people using a Encore and is convinced it will make him a better shot. Enough ranting.
