Pro Hunter 270
 

I've been thinking about purchasing an Encore Pro Hunter or Endeavor in 270. I also like the idea of swapping over to black powder. Any experience with the 270 cal with regards to accuracy? Thanks

I set a Prohunter 270 up for a friend's son a couple of weeks ago, and with factory Remington 150 gr Corelokt ammo, it shot an honest inch group at 100 yards off a bench. I hate T/C factory triggers and have had mine all tuned, but it is "acceptable" out of the box.

agreed, nothing complicated, but single shot kind of sucks. I have shot great groups with it, but if you have no need for the interchangeable barrels.....get a RUGER M77!

I hunted nearly 20 years and killed 97 deer and numerous hogs with a M77 in 270. I KNOW Rugers, but I would take an Encore over it any day.

Since the original poster is asking about T/C guns, I find it bad forum etiquette to down his choices without offering first hand experiences to back your statement.

No really, nothing wrong with a T/C I just like to fill my gun babinet with guns not extra interchangable barrels. Single shots fine, its the first shot that counts anyway. Oh yeah, you would take the encore because of its publicity, I will guarantee a ruger M77 over an encore Anyday.. Pay attention to the last sentence in the mans post! No regard to T/C(just 270)

For what it's worth, I am currently shooting a Blaser R-93 Professional with barrels in 22 lr, 6.5x55, 308, and 9.3x62, and I don't plan on ever hunting with a Ruger or T/C gun again.[:'(]

I say get two different rifles for nearly the same money. As far as 270 accuracy goes, my a-bolt shoots .5" groups on good days and .75" groups on bad days at 102 yds. And that is with factory 130g interbond hornady light mag ammo, not even handloads. I have a cousin that just bought a tikka t-3 270 this year that shootsnearly thatwell with thefederal premium 130g ballistic tips. Its not the caliber that matters, its either the rifle or the shooter.I haven't heard anything great about the accuracy of the encore or the prohunter. Most I've seen did shoot well enough for most hunting, 1.25-1.75 moa.

I already have a Pro Hunter 209x50 and I am considering getting a 270 barrel for it. I have heard more than a handful of people say that a bolt action rifle is going to blow the encore out of the water when it comes to accuracy. Well I bought the Pro Hunter for the versatility of the barrels, not to target shoot with. I do have a 223 barrel and it shoots just as accurate as my buddies Remington 700,we both took coyotes at about 150 yds. Both perfect shots with 2 dead coyotes on the ground. That is accurate enough for me. With some practice you will be fine switching barrels. I am considering getting my hinge pin changed, but other than that I am very pleased with the performance of the Pro Hunter so far. I bought it to put an animal on the ground and that is just what it did. Although my buddy can reload his Remy 700 a little bit faster than I can load my encore, it does not take long to reload for a follow up shot. Again, with practice 2-3 seconds and I'm back on my target ready to fire again. Alot of it has to do with where you keep your bullets to reload. Good Luck with your choice.
