RE: What a 300 Weatherby does to a deer (Graphic)
I personally like a little meat left on my deer.......
What little bit of meat that is left on that deer is probably "bllod shot" I just can't see the reason behind it.... |

My .300WSM did that to a deer once, (well close to that but not quite as bad) I switched bullets though, something a lot smaller and more solid.

Short Tracking Job right, I use a 300 ultra mag kind of does the same thing. little entrance hole and LARGE EXIT HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

RE: What a 300 Weatherby does to a deer (Graphic)
ORIGINAL: bigbulls Looks to me like he made a very low shot and blew the bottom of thebrisket out instead of center punching the lungs which allowed every thing to just slide out of the body cavity. If he had a 243 he probably wouldn't have flinched and hit where he wanted to:eek:. |

Wow...talk about overkill
|
RE: What a 300 Weatherby does to a deer (Graphic)
the last buck i shot with my WBY .300 Mag had quarter sized entry hole and the exit hole was the size of both my fist put together.
|
RE: What a 300 Weatherby does to a deer (Graphic)
I think the reason is clear...he hit the leg on the entry and so the bullet mushroomed and the shock from the second hit in the chest just exploded it.

Whatever floats your boat, but it looks like overkill to me.
