the more lead (weight) flying down range, the more it takes to deflect. this is why i chose the slug gun.

My first instinct was to say the 30-30, but I would use a low power scope and not open sights. No real reason, just what I've used in that situation.

Slug guns are great too, I imagine any shorter, quick handling gun would work just fine.

There is no such thing as a "brush gun", and if you hit a twig with any projectile, it will be deflected somewhat.

I suggest cleaning out a couple of shooting lanes and using whichever gun are most comfortable with and shoot the best.

In Ohio we cant use rifles.. so our choice regardless of where we hunt is shotgun, muzzle loader or certain hand guns.. I like to use a handgun when I know im going to be in heavy brush... much easier to move around and the shot is going to be a close one anyway.

I've got some ruger .44 magnum semiauto carbines,2 topped with low power scopes mounted as low as possible and IMO they are the fastest, most deadly close range rifles PERIOD.
