Anybody huntin in KS next week?
 

I'm going on my first KS deer hunt next week, pretty excited about it. I got a nice 10-pointer in MO on opening weekend here and I can't stop dreaming about getting another nice one next week in KS.

If you are hunting in KS, where will you be hunting? And does anybody know of any differences between MO and KS whitetails?

I'll be up there. Going on saturday though. I cant wait, this will be my 4th kansas hunt and I love it every time. Where are you hunting? One thing about hunting during rifle season is there are a lot of road hunters that drive around so if you are hunting public land be careful!

Do either of you guys hunt the walk-in areas? I'm thinking of starting to hunt KS next year (definately bow, possibly rifle) but I'm leary about hunting public land, especially during rifle season.

Hunt my own land as well as relatives land. Have hunted the walk-in at times when I wish to leave my land alone for a while.

I'm gonna rely on a buddy of mine who has been bowhunting and scouting some public land. I think it is called Perry Wildlife Area or something like that. There were no other hunters out there during bow season when he went but I don't know what it will be like for rifle season.

The Perry Lake area will get hammered during rifle season. I'd be careful or look somewhere else.

Usually I do until the opening of pheasant season, at which point the pheasant hunters run all of the deer off the place. If you go early enough you shouldnt see anyone out there. Its nice, but really frusterating when you hunt a buck hard and Nov. 1 rolls around and the pheasant hunters chase him out of there. I really wouldnt try it with a rifle, again too many road hunters that dont care what theyre shooting at.
