Congrats, there is very little you can do to diagnose button bucks. As you see more deer walk by you will start to see small features, which at ranges less than 50 yards or with a good pair of binocs you can pick out.
I suggest you go to www.qdma.com (quality deer management association). They have some real good literature to help determine the age of deer in the field.
Don't beat yourself up, most of us have killed a few button bucks in our time. I know I have myself killed one, which I thought was a doe. The most important thing is you let the small bucks which you could identify walk by and you made clean, ethical kills. At your age, that is a perfect day hunting. Good luck in the future!
