Correct usage of a drag rag
 

Hey guys,

When making a drag rag with estorous scent on it, does the peice of cloth need to be saturated in the estrous? or will a few squirts from the bottle do? I ask, because 1oz is $12...which is not much..but goes pretty fast after dragging a few..

So basically, how much do I need to put on the cloth?
Would a few squirts on it every 75-100 yards be ok, or does it need to be totaly SATURATED?

Also how big should the rag be? I have been using a piece of cotton cloth the size of a washcloth..which to saturate takes almost 3/4 of a 1oz bottle of code blue...

So am I using too much, or is the rag too big? it just seems that it shouldn't take 3/4 of a bottle..

Sorry for the basic question, but just wondering...thanks for any advice given :)

While I'm sure others will say they have done it differently, I am careful not to get any other scent on it. I never put the rag on my boots or drag it along my trial. Use plastic gloves, start to finish, use a stick about three+ feet long and cause rag to be dragged off to the side of your trail. Remember, less the better. The buck are detecting molecules on the real deal.

great idea with the stick..never thought of that...

I've been readingabout this and everything seems to say to saturate the rag..and in my mind I see a rag dripping wet with estrous when I read that...so it does not need to be soaked then?

A couple sprays on each side of the rag should be ok to walk/drag maybe 100 yards or so then? and maybe freshen it up as I get closer to my stand and then let it hang is what I was thinking...sound ok?

I'm still a bit vague on this..less is more, just making sure before I go out tomorrow...I do not need to absolutley soak it down? just spray a few sprays on it? sorry, just want to make sure :)

I usually try to start with very small amounts and slightly increase the amount as I get closer to my stand. Reason behind this thinking is that the doe was at location A (starting point) and moving to location B (stand location) and giving off a stronger scent in her actual vicinity. I'm sure this is probably too logical for a buck in rut though...any slight smell will probably entice him just enough.
