Some how ~ Dad gave me a buck. (Update pg. 3)
Nov 17th, 1993 my Dad passed away @ 51 from cancer and I believe he gave me a buck to shoot!
A nice 8 pt @ 141lb dressed.
It was a crazy day and I wasn't sure if I could even get out to hunt...
But my wife FORCED me to go, as she took care of my chores for me.
I went to an old hunt spot that I checked out a few weeks ago and found some decent sign.
I then grabbed my climber and sat by 3 PM, after putting some estrus scent down.
I first caught a flash of him about 100 yards away @ 3:30. I thought he was a little smaller than I would like,
as I had already arrowed a 6 pointer in Sept. and was holding out for something bigger.
He cautiously struts in like he was on a rope, to about 40 yards, and spent 15 minutes looking around intensely
for the Doe while lip curling for scent direction.
All of a sudden he bobs his head a few times, indicating he caught my scent, and turned to walk back from the
direction he originally came from.
I decided to take him @ 75 yards and he dropped in his tracks from the 50 caliber muzzle loader.
This deer was bigger than I first thought and had brow tines to boot! Thanks Dad, I miss you too!

Within 10 seconds of me shooting this buck and me waiting for the smoke to clear I get a call from my sister...
She tells me my God Mother / Aunt (fathers sister) just went into a diabetic comma, so last night was a blur, but she's doin' all right now.
