Have a question

Will 1.5 year old bucks breed does? The reason I ask is that the area I hunt I see very few older bucks but see a lot of 1.5 and 2.5 year range bucks. Will they get the job done.

Yeah they can if need be. Chances are, those older bucks are there...you're just not seeing em. 99% of the bucks most of us see are 1.5 and 2.5 year olds. The mature bucks are there...just a little smarter than the little guys.

Funny you should ask this question, I just read an article (cant remember where) that the younger bucks are the ones that breed 87% of the time, and breed the does first, then the older bucks come in and hit what hasnt been hit. Ill have to see if I can remember where I read this article, but it was pretty darn interesting.

RE: Have a question

Since older bucks generally come into breeding condition beofre younger bucks, I doubt that younger bucks would breed first, AND THEN older bucks start breeding; it just seems unlikely. Once a doe concieives, it will not breed again.

It is true that in many areas much of the breeding is done by younger bucks, because there are so few older bucks around.

Would a 15 year old boy if he had the chance? Spikes are equivalant to about that age.

Yes they certainly will if givin the opportunity. They may have to fight to get some but there will be something available.
