Wind direction

I am new to bow hunting, I am trying to understand how to use the wind while hunting whitetail, setting up stands, scents, etc. Does anyone have any previous posts or articles pertaining to just wind direction and how to use it correctly. I have caught bits and pieces in other posts but have not really seen a defining thread on this.

RE: Wind direction

When placing your stand or blind, you should set up with the wind in your face, if possible. That way the deer are UP wind of you. Your scent will not be blowing tword them.

One of the deers main defenses is its nose....if you have ever smelled a skunk you know how you smell to a deer. The wind will carry this stank for hundreds of yardsvia wind currents. Make sure these wind currents are not going in the direction you expect the deer to come from because they aren't coming if they smell you on stand.

When you set up near wehre you expect to see deer - make sure the pravailing wind (often out of the norhwest, north or west), is blowing FROM where you expect to see the deer, TO where you set up. Just make sure it is not blowing FROM you To the deer.
