dog bones

Are there any bones of a deer not suitable for giving to your dog due to splintering or any other issues?

Stick with milkbones and rawhides. I personally don't give my dog any bones from any animals. All it takes is one weak bone to splinter and game over...

My dogs have never had any problems with chewing on any of the deer bones we give them and weve been giving them deer bones for many many years.

Good advice. I feel the same way. My daughter is a vet tech and sees many times when dogs have a problem from chewing bones. A word of caution keep corn cobs away from dogs. They don't go through and will plug them up causing surgery to free it all up.

My dogs love them, plus the meat that is on the bones is verylean and high in protein.Try to save the hearts as well, dogs will tear into those.

I don't know if they are safe or not, but our dogs will find a deer leg and have it on the front porch in no time flat when we let them out of their pens. They seem to love them even if they are bad for them.

My dog always brings deer bones left from wolf kills in the area and never had a problem with him. Yet my buddies dog needed surgery to get a broken bone out of his stomach.
