Yea it is ok. My cousin shoots 95 grain out of hers. 80 will do the job. it is all about shot placement.

I also run 95 gr in the .243 that my wife and daughter hunt with.....Never had any problems, I don't think you will have too many problems with a 80gr as long as the shot is good...

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those, but I have always used 100gr - prefer a little heavier bullet. My 10yr old loves his.... calls it his ".243 magnum" LOL

My brother uses a 95 grain bullet with his 243 after having a bad experiance with an 80 grain bullet not producing enough hit at 150 yards on a misplaced shot. It was a lengthy recovery effort to find out that most of the buck was eaten by the wolves within the 6 hour search.

given that it was a misplaced shot, i'm not sure if it would have made any difference ifhe had used a 100g bullet in that 243 or a 150g out of a 270. A misplaced shot usually equals lengthy recovery
I use 100 g out of my 243

Currently using 95 gr. Winchester silver tips for my .243. Got a doe with it a couple weeks ago and it did some terrific damage...dropped right in her tracks. I agree with a lot of the comments above that it is all in the shot placement...not just with a .243 but with any gun.

It dose not matter what you use for deer hunting. SHOT PLACEMENT is the key to a successful deer harvest. My wife uses 100gn in her 243.
