Default my 1st deer season

well this is the first time in my life i have had the oppitunity to hunt anything, it has been a goal of mine since i was 14, wheni saw my first hunting show on the tv.

any ways my brother in law keeps telling me about his "honey hole" so i go check it out with my hunting buddy. well not much sigh of deer out there but his grandfather tells me that he only lets one person hunt up there and he gets a deer every year. so i figure il give it a go, what have i got to lose??

well after sitting in the stand all afternoon treying to keep warm, i happen to look over my shoulder and see a smallish 6 pointer feeding in my grandfathers soybean field. well i line him up in my sight and decided i wasnt going to take him. 2 reasons, i was after a doe and i was only gunna take a buck if he was 8 points or more.

so anyways i look at him through my scope again and notice movement behind him. well what do you know theres a great looking 8 pointer about3 feet to the right of him. giving me the perfect shot and as calm can be he just sat there.

so i took the shot after fighting off the shakes and taking a deep breath.

WOW what a rush! i got him right in the lung and he ran about 20 yards anf fell.

well the funny thing was the smaller buck just sat there gave us enough time to get out of the tree for me to reload and my father in law to take a shot at him. well after he took his shot the buck ran straight at him. after we scared him up for the 3rd time it was too dark and he wasnt hit. so he will live to see another year.

well sorry to drag on the bucks was weighed in at

153 pounds (dressed)
8 point rack
15 inch spread
B/C score of 97 2/8

he was shot at 150 yards with a CVA staghorn .50 with TC XTP 240 grain hollow point bullet, 100 grain pyro pellets

You got that 1st one out of the way. Now, you can concentrate on letting those smaller ones go and shoot bigger ones. Good luck the rest of the season.
