Double lung and/or heart shot are the best. You know they're going down if you hit the deer there.

Yeah i like to go for a heart shot, especially with a bow. Ill aim low into the heart because those deer are going to duck every time, even if its a little bit.

only back shots i know of are accidental

Base of neck where it connects to body. Last fall I hit a 260 pound buck at that exact spot with a .30-06, and he was dead before he hit the ground.
