Find food sources, especially acorn mast if available. Also hunt the doe groups.

Yes, Acorn at this time of year seem number 1. I would also suggest you get off the main trails, your four wheeler trails or logging roads and get into the bush. find the deer trails, and walk them. Find places where they intersect each other between bedding and feeding area's. hunt these to up your chance at seeing deer.

hey man wassup. i too live in virginia and am looking forward to muzzleloader this weekend. the way it sounds you have not done any scouting but thats ok. my advice is to hunt the acorns and fields in the afternoon.

also check out my post in the regional forums heres the link

im hoping it will turn into a place where us locals can tell each other about the rut action in our area. or just a place to complain, and to tell stories, or showoff your best pics. i don know i thought it would cool but you should check it out
