OUTHOUSES

Our camp really needs an outhouse. We just use a portable toilet chair(without the bucket). We carry it and a shovel each time out into the edge of the woods, then bring it back. Not really convenient. What do you guys use? Thanks for any replies.

Just about what I have used. Except, I used the bucket with a plastic bag. When filled, bury the bag. Nothing easier.

We built an ole type crapper with some 2X4's and chip board. It has a bench type seat with a regular toilet seat. We dug a nice square hole 4' and dragged it over. We use lye and throw some down there when we are done. We actually dug a new hole a few weeks ago and filled the old one back in. Kinda looked like a termite mound down there! LOL!!!!

We set up an old Ameristep outhouse blind and dig a hole and a frame with a toilet seat and a heater, just like home..

Sounds like a good idea OGH, but in all honesty...I'd rather grab hold of a 3" sapling, bend-er down, hang on and let loose any day of the week, rain or shine......than sit in an outhouse crappin up an already crapped up crap hole.[&:] :D:D:D

lol, its not that bad, the Lye kills the smell somewhat, and if you want, you can put a ABS pipe for a vent, helps vent some of the smell.

this is what we do as well, but our seat is a peice of Blue insulation...always nice and warm :) put a small propane heater in there, and your crappin in style ;)

Spearchucker--not quite sure what you mean by "blue insulation". Sounds itchy to me.

Thanks for the ideas/comments. I like the pop-up outhouse blind idea. Would be easy until a more permanent outhouse could be built.

We took an old box stand and mounted a toilet in it. Then mounted a huge barrell behind it that we keep water in. When you gotta dump, turn the spicket on the barrell open to fill the toilet, do your business and flush. We have about 40-50' of pipe running out into the woods away from it. We pour some bleach in it every so often to keep the mosquito breeding down.
