My dad shoots a 270 and I shoot a 300 win mag and they both can kill a deer with no issue.

Depends where ur at. If ur hunting thick stuff id go with the 300 out here in california id go with a 270. Overall tho id go witht the 300

I own both, a .300 is way to big for whitetail here in Texas

.270 is more than enough for any deer out there, and probably at any distance most folks would ever shoot at one. A .300 is overkill IMO, but lots of folks use them. I use a .280 personally and love it.

.270wsm is what I use, they don't run far after being hit with this little baby.

.270 here though before that I used a .25-06 or .222!
