If you had to make a choice.
This is a hypothetical question about hunting deer
If you had to make a choice. Would you give up deer hunting with a bow or deer hunting with a gun (includes muzzleload)? Give up the bow Give up the gun Personally, I would give up the gun... I just love to hunt with the bow. |
RE: If you had to make a choice.
I basically made that decision eight years ago. I went back to the bow so that
[ol][*]longer season[*]hunt closer to home[*]lose the orange army[*]greater sense of satisfaction for me personally [/ol] |
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Never the gun, I only hunt with a bow because i can get in the woods sooner.

RE: If you had to make a choice.
Actually I'm not ready to give up either, but if I had to make the decision, then I would have to give up bow hunting. I just love gun hunting. I know it's not as "sporting" as bow hunting, but it's just as enjoyable. I do love bow hunting, but there will come a day when I just can't do it anymore, you know the age thing. I doubt I will go to the crossbow when that time comes. Anyway, I have too many guns to quit gun hunting. I only have one bow, so that's an easy choice.:)

RE: If you had to make a choice.
I don't own a rifle and have no ambition to kill a deer with a rifle so it was a pretty easy decision for me.

RE: If you had to make a choice.
"from my cold dead hands" NEITHER!;)

RE: If you had to make a choice.
Hard to defend yourself against evil with stick and string don't ya think.......

RE: If you had to make a choice.
I'd give up the gun... I love the bow and hunting with it. Hardly get the rifle out anymore.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
i would have to give up my bow due to the comraderie of gun season. i love both but if i had to make a choice
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Bowhunting much longer season and much more satisfying.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
I'd have to say bowhunting since I just started bowhunting. Someone else said something about visiting (can'tremember howhe spelledcomraderie)with friends during gun season and that's a big part it, too.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
I have a bow and a rifle, I havn't hunted with the bow in 6 or 8 years so the choice is simple.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
ORIGINAL: nybuckboy Give up the bow Seriously would keep the gun. Bowhunting may be up close and in person but sitting in a box watching the bucks running the girls on a cold crisp morning, nothin like it. You may be able to see some bowhunting but sitting over a big open field, see so much more and can really enjoy it rather than worrying about spooking a single doe near ur stand. |
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Gave up the gun about 7 years ago. and still do just as well as the gun hunters do on the gun opening weekend.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
For one, I don't gun hunt, so I'd give up the gun because there are times I may have to go gun hunting if we need meat. Bow hunting is too fun and awesome to give up.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
No way in hell am I going to give up my Bow. If and when I get to the point I can no longer pull it back with ease...I can always use a crossbow. Just my opinion.;)
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Sometimes that choice is made for us...
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
I chose the bow....not that I would give up either....but I love the family time I get with 15-20 guys in camp.... none of them do much bow hunting, andI just love being around the uncles and cousins to much.

RE: If you had to make a choice.
I tip my hat to those who said they would keep their bows.
I hunt both but I am also a meat hunter and my odds for success increase with my rifle. That's especially true hunting with lower deer numbers that we have as compared to other states/provinces. Those who say they shoot as many deer with a bow as compared to other hunters usinga rifle, may find it difficult to keep that success rate in NH. |

Bow
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
would have to get rid of the gun longer season more of a challenge.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Although I luv to bow hunt witch I usualy do right thru muzzleloader season and a few times during rifle .
I shoot a lot more deer with my rifle or shot gun than bow , I just dont get enough deer close enough for a ethical shot with my bow . |
RE: If you had to make a choice.
although bow season is alot longer i can hunt from october 1 to february 28, the decision was an easy one to make...
1. i have alot better luck with my gun 2. just started bow hunting last year, beenusing a .243 for 13 years 3. they have a much harder time slipping out of range in these parts we have a small but still dangerous bear population... that bow isn't gonna do much when you have a pi$$ed off bear on your tracks! i've only seen 2 while hunting and i always carry a pistol when bow hunting, but i doubt that will help much either. just a piece of mind i guess |

RE: If you had to make a choice.
I did make this choice. About 15 years ago. I haven't looked back. I love bow hunting. It's quite, not many people out in the woods, and you don't have to worry about getting shot.
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
i have never hunted with a bow, but one day would love to get out there with one, so at the moment im sticking with my muzzleloader:)
|
RE: If you had to make a choice.
Bowhunting all the way!;)
