There is no real reason for protecting them! IF, they are not genetically inferior, most don't live long enough to produce "trophy" racks!
In the woods a solid white animal is easy prey for all predators.

I would love to have an albino walk out in front of me. I'd take it. We did have one on our property, and my dad almsot got a shot at it but it spotted him and ran off. A few other hunters saw it that hunt around our area and this farmer also did. Anyway, don't know what happened to her. It's been a few years since anyone saw her. We did get a trail camera picture of a piebald but it's at night and hard to tell it's a piebald. Hopefully we get a crack at it this year.

I honestly could never unerstand the reason to protect albino deer. The seasons, quotas, doe vs buck laws are set with the best interest of the deer in mind.
Why is the life of a white deer more important than normal deer?

That's a tough one. Clearly albino genetics do not need to be preserved for the good of the animals, but don't underestimate how much non-hunters (or even hunters) like to cruise country roads on their way to Saturday night dinner plans and look for snow-white fawns. These people may be angry or sad at these deer being killed and that might not be good for relations in our sport. Maybe not, just throwing that out.
