Looking for a scope

Need a scope for a 30-06 bolt action rifle. There are a bunch that are really expensive, I was wondering if anyone knows of a less expensive scope that would work for this type of rifle? Thanks for any info.

For mid range scopes, I hear great things about Nikon. During the past three years, I've changed all my scopes to Zeiss Conquest. They cost a little more, but its worth it.

I put a simmon's on a .308 and I love it, of course it isnt a Nikon or Zeiss but it works great, I have taken bucks in moist conditions with no fogging and the shots were over 100 yards....the clarity is good.

In my opinion it is hard to beat the Bushnell 3200 or 4200 series with the rain guard feature. I have both and the 4200 has better optics but a 3 x 9 3200 is a very good scope for $200.

What is your absolute maximum budget and what is your main usage of the scope?

Ive owned alot of scopes 40-400$. IMHO, The best deal on a scope right now is a nikon prostaff or a sightron SI series. Both are around 130$ for a 3-9X. I checked out both at gander MT this summer for a "loaner/ beat on" gun, I needed a inexpensive scope for. Side by side, they were about the same but I went w/ the sightron cause it is made in Japan and the prostaff was phillipines which is usually better than china quality but below japan. Next to my ziess and leupold it was almost as clear and bright . check em out.I suggest going to a store and see for yourself instead of ordering from a catalog base on others opinions though. Good luck!

I'm using a Leapers 3-9x40 that I bought at a gun show for $80. Lifetime warranty and cheap. I was worried about it holding adjustment, but so far I've put 40 rounds of 270 WSM through the gun with it zero'd in at 100 yards and it still shoots right at about 1". I figure if it lasts me a season or two I'll be happy. Will give me time to save up for a Nikon. Plus, I can have an illuminated reticle in either red or green! lol

Check out nikon prostaff's, bushnell legends (3-9x50 = $150), oh and definitily check out sightron, like deerandbearhog suggested. Sightron uses the same lenses as leupold's just differant crystals, i have a pair of sightron sII binoculars and i love em, they are amazingly clear and only cost me $80. I have yet to hear anything bad about these scopes.
