No deer, just a great time
 

I took my son out this past weekend for the youth hunt. He had finished his safety course a few months ago and was itch'en to go. Well, we got up, got ready, and left. Had (1) big doe run across the road on the way. Got to the woods and loaded up. Half way to our blind, we jump one. He said, "what was that"? I explained that it was a deer and you could tell by the sound it makes when they run away. We spend a few hours watching, chating, making waaaaaay to much noise. Well, we didn't see anything else but, I did spend time with him that I don't get much anymore. He is now 14 and knows everything. He is getting ready for his 1st date to Homecomming. We had to have a little talk. It was just a great morning.

I am looking forward to more of these times with him and my 11 year old.

I wish everyone a great and safe hunting season. Enjoy your time with the kids. God knows how long they will want to be around their parents.

That's the truth.

Tool my boy out this weekend, and to my buddy he exclaimed "my dad does everything better". Talk about hit ya in the heart!!

Congrats on time well spent with the young ones. Definately don't have to take a deer to have a good time. (but it does make it sweeter)

I started taking my nephews on the youth hunts in IL some years ago. Now at25 my oldest nephew is one of my best hunting and fishing partners. We head out for another IL youth hunt theweekend of the 11th & 12th. I'll be partnering up with my 13 year old who tagged last year and my oldest nephew will be partnered with his 13 year old1/2 brother.

Deer or no deer we'll have a good time.
