Trail cam question
 

I was looking at some trail cams.. thinking seriously of getting a few. I have never used them..but I know how valuable they can be in providing information... but then..I wonder if it wont be kind of a spoiler at the same time.. Like most i spend time out reading signs.. looking for tracks and rubs etc etc. but does it deminish the thrill of the hunt or the excitment you get when you see the deer you have been tracking for months the first time face to face? any input about that side of cam use would be greatly appreciated.

For me, it only adds to the hunt... wondering if the animal I saw in some of the photos will be the one that comes out, etc.

Trail cameras are the best scouting device with minimum invasion to announcing your presence. Especially during the rut when the big ones start to expand their range and start coming out in daylight. I thoroughly enjoy the anticipation of getting the recorded images every two weeks to see what's been moving in the area. Sharing the knowledge with fellow hunters adds to the excitement and seeing patterns develop helps highten the anticipatoin as the rut kicks off.

I'm probably at the extreme but I have 8 digital cameras out starting in August and cover about 300 acreas. I've been buying two per year and with the price of gas, have cut my trips to the hunting land down by 75% still feel like I know what's happening on my 40's while I'm away.

Best hunting gearinvestment I've ever made.

Live in S.point in Lawrence Co. but hunt up around Crown City in Gallia.

thats about 2 hours..maybe a little less down stream..never hunted down there.. heck i havnt even hunted in Lawrence county lol.. moved here from Crown city to be closer to work.. but never take the time to get to knowthe area .. seem to always head back to crown town where i know my way around. next year tho.. im hoping to afford to get both a Wv and a Ky hunting permit and explore the public lands a bit.
