PETA artlicle in Field and stream Sept. 00
While thumbing through old issues of hunting mags I found an interesting
article that gave me a giggle. I'm sure to some of you it is old news but I
thought i'd post it here. The article, from Sept 2000 reads.
Following the complete flop of it's recent "No Fishing" campaign the
animal-rights group PETA fumbled again when they asked the NFL's Green Bay
Packers to change it's name. "Packers" refers to the meat packing industry,
complained PETA. The "Pickers or the "Six Packers" would be better,
nonviolent choices, PETA suggested. "No thanks." replied team president Bob
Harlan, while the rest of Wisconsin yawned. The Wisconsin reaction was about
par for PETA, which once got media attention after splashing fake blood on
fur-coated women, but now has increasing little effect on the values of U.S.
society.
I swear, it's a true story.
After their recent "Butt" from the rams I think maybe they should go with
the "Pickers" LMAO. As in Pick up your pads and go back to cheese land.
