RE: why did michigan ban baiting
would be a mistake since they haven't had time to survey the wild herd to insure that there was no transmission. |
RE: why did michigan ban baiting
ORIGINAL: cowboy4513 The DNR let someone in michigan import a deer from ohio that was pen raised for its semen. That deer had CWD. And (as far as i know) a wild deer came down with the disease thats because of the panic. The ban on bait isnt stopping the gas stations and convienant marts of selling carrots and corn though... which I feel the DNR should regulate and do something about with a ban on baiting. |
RE: why did michigan ban baiting
okay this is well rounded topic. Im not for nor against baiting. I just wanted to know what the effect of a baiting site had to do with CWD. i do believe there is and time and place to bait. Not going against anyone but some animal the best way to hunt them is bait..I.E. bears. but now i think i do have understanding on why baiting is banned for this year and im glad it is to reduce the threat. So i should see it be re enstated some time next. that would be my guess

[quote]ORIGINAL: Bob S
The DNR does not have the authority to regulate the selling of agricultural crops.[quote/] Obviously, but they should be watching what people who buy it do with it... I guarentee 99 out of 100 customer that are buying carrots are using it for deer. |
RE: why did michigan ban baiting
An even better question than "why did Michigan ban baiting", is, "why didn't Michigan ban baiting years ago?"....
